Welcome to Tadworth Medical Centre
We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.
If you need to see a doctor when your GP practice is closed please telephone 01372 738373 (6pm-9pm each weekday and 9am-1pm Saturday and Sunday) to make an appointment in a local GP Hub or alternative call 111 for the non emergency NHS 111 advice service.
August Bank Holiday
No one plans to get ill over a bank holiday weekend but if you do we will be offering appointments in an out of hours hub on Monday 27th August at The Derby Medical Centre in Epsom. Phones will open at 8am and will close at 7pm. Appointments are available from 9am - 7.30pm. If you need an appointment, please telephone 01372 738 373. You will then be seen by a local NHS GP with full access to your medical history. There is no charge for using this service.
Preston Community Development Worker
Some of our patients may already know the Preston Community Development Worker, Maria Hewson, who is working hard with residents in the community and hoping to help make the improvements that residents would like to see happen in the area. Maria will be using a room at the Practice on the last Friday of each month, where she will be happy to have a chat with you about her role and the ways in which she is working within the community. If you would like to meet with Maria, please contact her on 07854 171376.
SMS Text Service
Tadworth Medical Centre will no longer offer an ear irrigation service after 1st July 2018. This is to avoid the risk of complications associated with ear syringing. We will continue to assess any person with earache or reduced hearing. If necessary, patients will be referred for micro-suction, which is safer and more effective to preventing wax build up. Patients will be advised that they can self-refer for self funded micro-suction at Specsavers. This service is private and not NHS funded and is only available to persons aged over 18 years old (Please visit the online services page on this website for more information about this service).
Alternatively, as from September, Audiology Plus Ltd, will hire a room at Tadworth Medical Centre to offer a private self-funding audiology service to members of the public. The service offered will include microsuction, hearing tests, hearing aids. Please note that this service is private and is not an NHS funded service or part of the Tadworth Medical Centre services. Patients may contact Reception to make a booking or please visit www.audiologyplus.co.uk for more information on the services offered and contact the Company directly.
We like to listen
A recent survey showed that many of our patients were not happy with our telephone system. We listened to your complaints and have carried out a full review. We recently installed a new phone system with standard local charges only as well as cutting our 'queue waiting' numbers in order that patients will have their calls answered quicker. We welcome your feedback.
We are unfortunately aware and sorry that our patients are finding it increasingly difficult to get the appointments and services that you would like and expect from us. This is frustrating for us too and we would like to explain the reasons why if we can, as well as assure that we are trying very hard to make sure that we provide you with the best possible care.
As regularly reported in both the National and Local News, you will no doubt be aware that the NHS is under extreme pressure, mainly due to the uphill financial struggle and the increasing amount of patients joining the health service. People are living longer and living with more complex health needs. Unfortunately the investment in general practice has reduced whilst the workload has sharply risen and all these facts add to the pressure of the amount of appointments your GP can safely offer.
Despite all of this, Tadworth Medical Centre are completely committed to providing our patients with the best possible service that we can offer and are always looking for ways to improve where we can. We feel very lucky to have recently recruited our Nurse Practitioner, Chelsea Blake, who is able to work alongside the doctors and offer treatment for your minor medical problems as well work as a Practice Nurse. We are also now offering both early morning and evening routine appointments on certain days to try and help patients who need to see a doctor but have commitments during the normal working day.
We all want the NHS to continue and we work hard to make sure this happens. The NHS is there for us all to use responsibly. Please think about where you can get the most appropriate help for your needs. There are excellent local pharmacies who are able to provide advice, support and over the counter treatments where they can as well as the non emergency NHS 111 telephone service. Patients may call 111 and speak to a trained advisor who will assess and direct you to the best medical for you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this - help us to make sure we are available when you need us most. More importantly, please be assured that as your GP Practice, all at Tadworth Medical Centre are here to help you with your medical needs.
