Clinics & Services
As well as services expected from a general practice, we provide a wide range of additional services, including phlebotomy, warfarin, dietician and allergy clinics. There are several outreach clinics by visiting consultants (please see clinic and services below).
The clinics are by appointment only. Please contact the surgery if you would like to know more about the clinic or would like to book an appointment subject to GP consultation.
Antenatal Clinic - run by a midwife once a week on Wednesdays.
Baby Clinic - run by a doctor and a nurse on a Tuesday mornings.
Baby Checks - 8 weeks checks and Immunisations are offered to our younger patients.
Family Planning - these appointments are available for all aspects of sexual health issues. You can request to see either a GP or a member of the nursing team. IUD's are not fitted at this practice please see family planning clinics.
Cervical Smears - our practice nurses carry out most of the smear tests. These are usually taken during the nurses' normal clinic times. Please note that mid -cycle (usually 14 days after your last period) is the best time to have your smear taken because a clearer background to the sample can be gained around this time.
Diabetic Clinic - these clinics are by appointment and are open to all diabetics for reviews and advice. The diabetic clinic is run on Wednesday's and Friday's morning with our diabetic trained nurse. To enable us to accurately monitor your recent blood sugar levels you will also be required to book a fasting blood test (early appointment - no food - water only for 12 hours prior to test), with the blood nurse, at least two weeks before your diabetic review appointment.
Due to the new Department of Health Guidelines it is now necessary to test for microalbuminuria which requires an early morning urine sample to be taken on the morning of your blood test, and handed into reception on arrival, to be sent off for analysis. You will therefore need to collect a white topped specimen bottle before your blood appointment, so you can bring this with you on the day of blood test.
If you have any optician reports or have attended for either NHS or private Chiropody could you please bring a copy with you when you attend your appointment.
Asthma / COPD Clinic - both asthma and COPD clinics are nurse-led and are open to all asthmatics or patients with COPD for assessment, advice and management of symptoms. When booking, please make a double appointment.
Blood Pressure Clinic - this clinic is for the benefit of patients with hypertension, or patients who need to have their blood pressure monitored regularly. These clinics are by appointment only.
Waiting Room Blood Pressure Monitor - NEW SERVICE - We now have a new Waiting Room Blood Pressure Monitor where patients can sit and take their own Blood Pressure Reading to pass on to Receptionists to be recorded for GP's information. This machine will help increase available Nurse and Doctors' appointments as well as reduce waiting times. Please note this is for Adult use only.
Influenza, Pneumococcal and Shingles Immunisation - these are routinely offered to all at risk patients. The clinics are usually run in early autumn.
Travel Clinic - Tadworth Medical Centre is a registered yellow fever centre. If you are going abroad and would like to know what vaccinations you will need you can ring Masta Travel Advice 0906 822 4100 and then make an appointment with one of our practice nurses. New Patient Check - our nurses carry out checks incorporating health screening and lifestyle advice. If you are attending one of these appointments please bring a sample of urine with you for testing.
